The West St. Paul City Council discussed the police response to mental health and economic development strategy, as well as approved expansions to where liquor stores and tattoo shops can locate. They also approved a 2022 street reconstruction project over neighbor complaints.
Albert Park is West St. Paul’s first and smallest park. It grew out of tragedy and has been the focus of mysteries and misnomers over time.

The West St. Paul City Council had little on the regular meeting agenda, but did approve a new committee appointment process, learn about Crusader Ave. construction in 2022, and a new pool contract with the YMCA. A council member also took heat for recent comments at the virtual town hall.
The first virtual West St. Paul town hall included updates from city department heads, Q&As from residents, updates rom council members, and an online survey that will give elected officials direction as they plan for the future.
While the regular West St. Paul City Council meeting had a sparse agenda, the Council still covered a lot with nearly three hours of other meetings. Topics included policing, the committee appointment process, and sale of land for townhomes.
