While the regular West St. Paul City Council meeting was cut short due to an emergency declaration and curfew, the work session included heated debate on the Black Lives Matter mural.
There’s not a lot on the regular meeting agenda for the West St. Paul City Council, though important conversations will happen during the Open Council Work Session (OCWS), including potentially creating a new committee and a resolution to support AT&T union employees.
The West St. Paul City Council did a lot this week, including officially hiring a new city manager, approving the return of Burger King and a drive thru for Jimmy John’s, approving two of three proposed charter amendments, and clearing the way for pickleball.
While the regular West St. Paul City Council meeting had a sparse agenda, the Council still covered a lot with nearly three hours of other meetings. Topics included policing, the committee appointment process, and sale of land for townhomes.
For the first time in 132 years, West St. Paul has a female majority on City Council as newly elected members are sworn in.
