The upcoming West St. Paul City Council meeting will have the first reading for more intoxicating THC ordinances and an array of other minor changes including zoning and stormwater ordinances.
Intoxicating THC Ordinances
After hammering out details at the last meeting, City Council will adopt changes to the intoxicating THC ordinances and licensing. The rules are being written in line with legislation currently being considered at the state level. Council has settled on a 1,000-foot buffer from schools. There will be a public hearing on March 13 for the licensing rules.
Other Items on the Agenda
- Zoning tweaks: Two measures will come forward to change zoning on various parcels to better match planning documents and the current reality.
- Stormwater tweaks: A series of changes will move stormwater regulations from zoning to ordinances, clean up some language, and tighten restrictions (though still less strict than surrounding communities).
- Net Ministries: The occupancy extension exemption for Net Ministries will come back before Council for a final reading. It passed unanimously at the last meeting.
- Road work: The Open Council Work Session (OCWS) will include a discussion of this year’s mill and overlay road projects (more on how road maintenance works). Council needs to decide if the projects should all be assessed together or broken into neighborhoods, as well as whether to hold the assessment hearing in April or October.
- Legal practices: During OCWS, Council will go over laws, practices, and procedures from the new city attorney.
The public can watch the meeting live on Town Square TV or cable TV starting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday (5:30 p.m. for the OCWS meeting).
