Metro Transit is asking for feedback on the specific locations of stops for the new bus rapid transit (BRT) line coming to Robert Street, known as the G Line.
What is BRT: Bus rapid transit is a faster approach to busing with a number of features to speed up the process. That includes more frequent buses and fewer stops, advanced payment for faster loading, stops designed to ease merging with traffic, and more. Metro Transit has five BRT lines currently in service with seven more in development.
Speed: The goal is for the G Line to be 20% faster than the existing routes 62 and 68. The buses can come as frequently as every 10 minutes.
Timeline: Planning and engineering is happening now through 2025. Phase one will focus on the northern section with construction work in West St. Paul not happening until 2027-2028. The goal is to be finished by the end of 2028.
Stops: See the specific location of G Line stations along Robert Street.
Feedback: You can give feedback by taking the online survey on individual G Line stations.
Event: Virtual open house on October 10 at 6:30 p.m.
Cost: The estimated cost of the project is $75-85 million. The G Line project is fully funded through a mix of federal, state, and Met Council dollars.
History: Metro Transit selected the Robert Street corridor for bus rapid transit in 2021.

Downtown St. Paul is a ghost town and it is not going to come back. The days of spoke and hub commuting to urban cores are gone. How many people use the current lines – most of the buses I see on Robert Street are empty or nearly so. It is obscene that we are going to spend that much money on this scheme. Of course it hardly compares to the money wasted on Light Rail.
