5th Annual Charity Hockey Game

Thanks to Minnesota Locks for their support.

The West St. Paul Police Department’s fifth annual charity hockey game is moving to support the family of fallen Inver Grove Heights Police Officer Ben Bidon. This year’s game will take place in Inver Grove Heights and feature first responders who worked with Bidon instead of the usual police vs. fire matchup.

When: Saturday, October 28 at 4 p.m.

Where: Memorial Veteran Ice Arena in Inver Grove Heights

Pace Automotive: Local, family owned auto repair. Personal, honest service.

Cost: $5 admission, plus raffle, chuck-a-puck, and more.

Cause: The first responders are partnering with Northern Dakota County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon to support Bidon’s family.

  • Ben Bidon died suddenly in April of 2023 of a “medical emergency,” leaving behind his wife and three daughters.
  • Bidon played in every charity hockey game West St. Paul hosted and numerous other charity tournaments.
  • He served as an investigator with the Inver Grove Heights Police Department, an active team lead on the Dakota County SWAT Team, and was also a decorated Army veteran.

“He could light up an entire room with his smile,” Officer Trent Anderson told KARE11. “He’s irreplaceable. I mean, there’s no way to replace him.”
