Redevelopment plans for 150 Thompson in West St. Paul.

Survey Results & More Input on 150 Thompson Redevelopment

Thanks to West St. Paul Chiropractic for their support.

The City of West St. Paul is sharing feedback and asking for more on the redevelopment of the former YMCA/Hy-Vee property. Calling it “150 Thompson” (the address of the site), the city gathered feedback at an open house on November 1 and has made an online survey available to gather more input.

What’s proposed: The redevelopment by Greco includes more than 450 apartment units, townhouses, retail space, a sit-down restaurant, and community space—including an amphitheater, plaza, green space, and more. See more details from the city.

Survey: The city is looking for additional input on that community space. Take the online survey to share your thoughts.

Initial Survey Results

The city described the November open house as “overwhelmingly positive, with some constructive suggestions to improve layout and design.”

  • Design: A common theme included “a place for people to come together” and “a place that’s uniquely West St. Paul.” Top principles included natural, safe, accessible, year round, place to connect, and active.
  • Amenities: Many were popular, but the top choices included walkable/bikeable, summer to winter conversion, bathrooms, year-round landscaping, quiet walkways, gardens, and creative lighting.
  • Park name: Survey respondents didn’t like any of the proposed names (including Thompson Oaks, The Yard, The Porch, etc.). Some thought a name like Thompson Commons or Thompson Square could work.
