Thanks to our members for making coverage of West St. Paul City Council meetings possible.
The redevelopment of 150 Thompson continues to move forward, plus city staff wages, Council rules, and legislative priorities at the next West St. Paul City Council meeting.
150 Thompson
We’re seeing some progress on the proposed redevelopment at 150 Thompson. The Economic Development Authority (EDA) will vote on an amendment to extend the preliminary development agreement. Despite TIF projections being lower than expected, the developer, Greco, is comfortable moving forward. So there’s not actually anything new yet, but it is making progress.
What’s next: A second public open house is planned for the spring before the project comes up for official zoning approvals.
Other Items on the Agenda
- City wages: City Manager Nate Burkett will propose a series of changes to address staff wages falling behind the market, an issue he raised in previous meetings. The changes are revenue neutral, mostly accomplished because the role of human resources director has remained open.
- Council rules: Council will consider their rules and code of ethics during the Open Council Work Session (OCWS). The rules were last reviewed in 2021 and staff is asking about potential changes. Some issues include streamlining, consistency with current actions, guidelines for public comments, whether to continue phone-in comments, and whether or not to return OCWS meetings to the conference room.
- Legislative priorities: During the OCWS, Council will discuss legislative priorities, including funding for capital projects and a number of legislative issues.

Watch: The public can watch the meeting live on Town Square TV or cable TV starting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday (5:45 p.m. for the OCWS).
