Proposed Apartments at Wentworth Center Fall Through

Thanks to Blue Sky Bookkeeping for their support.

For the second time in four months an apartment project proposed for West St. Paul has fallen through. This time it was the four-story, 150-unit project, along with space for a future restaurant, pitched to replace the Wentworth Center office building.

  • Timeline: First proposed in December by Roers Companies, who built and manages the Savor apartments just down the street, the project faced a tight vote at Planning Commission in February and was pulled from the agenda of the last Council meeting.
  • What happened: “We did not receive funding from the Dakota County CDA and based on the first reading at Council and other conversations at the city level, we were getting indication that Council was not going to support the project,” said Nick Asta with Roers.
  • What’s next: The Wentworth Center had been on the market for several years before this proposal. With Roers ending the purchase agreement, it’s possible the building will return to the market.
  • Denied: The other apartment project that fell through in the last four months was the proposed 65-unit building at 212 Thompson that Council denied in December.
