Whether or not the city has too many liquor stores is among the few topics on a short agenda for Monday’s West St. Paul City Council meeting.

Cannabis Changes and Too Many Liquor Stores?

During the Open Council Work Session (OCWS), Council will discuss minor changes to the city’s cannabis ordinance to comply with changes in state law. In response to complaints about too many liquor stores, they’ll also discuss whether the city should limit the number of licenses for liquor stores.

Other Items on the Agenda:

  • Met Council Rep: The only item of business on the regular Council agenda is the introduction of the new Met Council representative, West St. Paul resident Victor Obisakin.
  • Strategic priorities: Council will revisit their strategic priorities during OCWS and give staff direction on what should have greater priority.
  • Exterior grant: The Economic Development Authority (EDA) will consider an exterior improvement grant of $3,300 for awnings at 1098 Robert Street (Mike’s Butcher Shop and former Cardinal Corner space).
  • Summer hours: During OCWS Council will consider whether the city should limit city hall hours during the summer.
