The City of West St. Paul is looking for a few good neighbors. The city is rolling out a new award to recognize amazing neighbors. You can nominate your favorite neighbor.

Why: “There are so many ways our residents contribute to the community, and we felt this award will help recognize those efforts,” said Community Development Director Ben Boike.

Who: Nominees might pick up litter, coach youth sports, plan neighborhood events, help a neighbor in need, or beautify the entire block with an amazing garden.

Pace Automotive: Local, family owned auto repair. Personal, honest service.

How: You can nominate someone for the first annual Good Neighbor Awards.

  • Nominees must live in the City of West St. Paul.
  • Nominations are due by Sept. 30, 2025.

Expanding Recognition

Previously the city had a property recognition program to highlight beautiful yards and homes, but they’re expanding that initiative to look at contributions beyond aesthetics.

“What makes a good neighbor is not just upkeep of their landscaping and curb appeal, it’s about what they give back to their neighborhood in any aspect,” said Assistant City Manager Dan Nowicki. “We want to recognize those that make West St. Paul the desirable community that it is.”

Good Neighbor Awards

The city will name up to five Good Neighbor Award winners at a City Council meeting in October, depending on how many nominations they receive. Winners will receive an award and a gift certificate to a local business.
