Beyond the Yellow Ribbon: Feeding the Troops

Thanks to The North 40 Tavern for their support. A north woods tavern somewhere in the middle of a big city. They regularly rotate tap beers, so stop in to see what’s currently flowing.

Northern Dakota County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Committee is hosting a holiday party for members of the National Guard and their families this Friday evening.

What: The event will feed nearly 500 people of the 147th Aviation Regiment of the National Guard stationed at Holman Field in St. Paul. They fly the Black Hawk helicopters.

  • Santa Claus will make an appearance, and they’ll have a raffle for bikes and helmets, TVs, grills, and more.
  • Mayors and other elected officials from surrounding communities will be on hand to serve food.

Why: “It means the world to them,” said Neil Garlock, the board chair for Beyond the Yellow Ribbon and former mayor of Mendota Heights.
