Vacant space next to Children's Minnesota Clinic.

Restaurant/Cafe Coming to Robert Street

Thanks to Bisanz Brothers, Block Portrait Studios, and Dakota County for their support.

A proposed restaurant/cafe is potentially coming to Robert Street in a vacant space next to the Children’s Minnesota Clinic.

What: A restaurant/café offering a variety of food including pizza, panini sandwiches, pastries, and charcuterie boards, as well as coffee, beer, and wine. The space would also include a small outdoor patio.

Pace Automotive: Local, family owned auto repair. Personal, honest service.

Where: Located at 963 Robert Street South between Haskell and Bernard. Most of the building is occupied by Children’s Minnesota Clinic, but the proposed restaurant would go in a 1,772-square-foot space at the southern end of the building that has been vacant for years.

Who: Tatiana Kilgore of Inver Grove Heights is looking to franchise The Bougie Grazer, a successful cafe with two locations in Atlanta.

  • “I want to bring back family nights and experiences for adults and kids’ things you will enjoy for a family day out,” Kilgore wrote in her application to the city.
  • The application also mentioned an emphasis on youth with summer jobs and potential youth programming and mentoring, as well as pizza workshops or cake baking classes.

Next steps: The proposal comes before the Planning Commission on March 17 for a conditional user permit (CUP) for on-sale liquor and outdoor seating. Then it will go to City Council for final approval.

Timing: There’s no indication when the restaurant would open. These are the preliminary steps for required city approvals, and these proposals don’t always come to pass (the southern fusion restaurant proposed in 2024 in the former Wooden Tub space is a good example of a recent proposal that didn’t come to fruition).
