The fifth annual Explore West St. Paul Days has events this Thursday through Sunday to kick off summer. From parades to parties, it’s a chance to explore your community and connect with your neighbors.
What’s new: New events this year include an open house at Dodge Nature Center, an art project at Poppy and Wonderments, a wiffle ball tournament, and events at 5-8 Grill & Tap. Plus, look for a special performance of the “West St. Paul” song by local artist Carolyn Swiszcz on Friday night.
Explore West St. Paul Days Schedule
Here’s the list of events happening in West St. Paul from June 4-8:
All Days
- Medallion Hunt – Clues will be released twice daily, at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., each day of Explore West St. Paul Days until the medallion is found. The prize is $500 from the South Robert Street Business Association.
- Citywide Garage Sale – Garage sales are happening across the city. See the map to find sales near you. Of special interest is a fundraiser for the Two Rivers Theater Boosters on Saturday, June 6.
Thursday, June 4
- 6-8 p.m. – Dodge Nature Center Open House – Dodge Nature Center is hosting a free, all-ages open house to explore the nature center(365 Marie Ave. W.).
Friday, June 5
- 6 -10:15 p.m. – Food Trucks, Beer Garden, Concert & Fireworks at the Sports Complex (1650 Oakdale Avenue).
- 6 p.m. – Food trucks and beer garden will be available all night.
- 7-10 p.m. – Performance from the band Good for Gary.
- ~8:20 p.m. – Intermission performance of “West St. Paul” song by Carolyn Swiszcz and Bob Payton (watch the teaser below).
- 10:15 p.m. – Fireworks
Saturday, June 6
- 10:30 a.m. – Parade – See the full parade route along Charlton Street from Runge Lane to Bernard Street.
- 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. – West Fest – After the parade come to Harmon Park (230 Bernard Street West) for booths from local organizations and businesses, plus food trucks.
- 12:30 p.m. start – WSP Baseball Wiffle Ball Tournament – WSP Baseball is organizing a wiffle ball tournament. It costs $80 per team and first place gets $250. You can register via email or by walk up.
- 2-3 p.m. – Spring Giveaway Event – St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church (1575 Charlton Street) hosts a community garage sale, but everything is free. They’ll also have free hot dogs and ice cream sandwiches.
- 2-6 p.m. – Community Painting Drop-In – Poppy and Wonderments (374 Annapolis St. W.) is hosting an individual painting project where each piece will be combined to create a larger piece that’s displayed in city hall.
- 2-6:30 p.m. – Explore 1800 Oakdale Avenue – El Destino Market and Clothesline Laundromat (1838/1834 Oakdale Avenue) host a cultural event with performances, food, giveaways and more.
- 2:30 p.m. start – Cocktail/Mocktail Class – 5-8 Grill & Tap is hosting a 21+ mixing class. It costs $7 and pre-registration is required.
- 3:30-5:30 p.m. – Raddatz Dance Open House – Raddatz Dance Studio (120 Butler Avenue East) hosts an open house with free class, snow cone, and bounce house.
- 6-10 p.m. – Food Trucks, Beer Garden, K9 Demo & Concert at the Sports Complex (1650 Oakdale Avenue).
- 6 p.m. – Food trucks and beer garden will be available all night.
- 6:15 p.m. – Police K9 demo
- 7-10 p.m. – Performance from the 1980s cover band Atari.
Sunday, June 7
- 8:30 a.m. start – West St. Paul Rider – A free, family friendly bike ride starting at Marthaler Park (1625 Humboldt) and riding 6.9 miles around West St. Paul. Includes donuts, juice, and coffee at the start.
- 2-5 p.m. – Juneteenth Kickoff – The Residents of Color Collective (ROCC) is hosting a cultural celebration with free food and more at the Sports Complex (1650 Oakdale Avenue).
- 2:30 p.m. start – Paint and Nosh on the Patio – 5-8 Grill & Tap is hosting a 16+ painting event. It costs $10 (which is redeemable toward food and drinks) and pre-registration is required.
