On Sunday, the City of West St. Paul announced the closure of Dodd Road this week to repair manholes. The road is completely closed between Charlton and Allen, with an expected closure of three to five days.
Now there are reports of the work happening late into the evening. So what’s going on?
What: The city is replacing two sanitary manholes. They won’t last until 2030 when Dodd Road is tentatively scheduled for reconstruction.
So why the late hours?: “When they opened the road yesterday to go after the deepest one there was a lot of unexpected groundwater,” said Public Works Director Ross Beckwith. “The road was severely undermined, so they had to battle all of that plus change out the deep manhole.”
Timeline: With those extra issues, the work is taking longer than planned. Expect Dodd Road to remain closed all week.
