Inver Grove Heights is replacing playgrounds in Ernster Park and Salem Hills Park and asking the public for input.
Why: Both playground structures are over 20 years old and are in line to be replaced as part of the city’s capital improvements plan.
When: Replacement is scheduled for 2027.
Cost: The city budgeted $225,000 for the Ernster Park playground and $150,000 for the Salem Hills Park playground in their 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Plan approved by City Council in November 2025 (note this is a budgeted cost and not an actual cost).
How to give input: Residents can share their feedback via an online survey available through October 2 or attend one of the open houses:
- Tuesday, October 27, 4:30-6 p.m. at Salem Hills Park (1642 Upper 55th St. E.).
- Wednesday, October 28, 4:30-6 p.m. at Ernster Park, (7750 Dickman Trail).
- Thursday, October 29, 4:30-6 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Community Center (8055 Barbara Ave.)
