Below are details on this year’s inductees:

Phil Haig

Phil Haig
  • Haig earned all-conference honors in five varsity sports in high school—football (all state), baseball (all state), basketball, tennis, and wrestling.
  • He continued his athletic career at the University of Illinois and Florida International University.
  • Spent more than a decade coaching collegiate baseball at Sam Houston State, Tulane University, and the University of Texas.
  • Today, Haig does tech sales for Dialpad and lives in Austin, Texas.

Ann Kennedy

Ann Kennedy
  • In high school, Kennedy was named a two-time swim MVP and set multiple longstanding records. Her 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle records stood for 41 years and her 500-yard freestyle record is still unbeaten for 43 years.
  • Kennedy earned a Division I swimming scholarship to the University of Nebraska, where she was a three-year letterwinner.
  • Kennedy served as the chief product officer for a Silicon Valley tech company.
  • As an adult, she returned to competitive swimming and became a two-time United States Masters Swimming National Champion in 2012.
  • Since retiring, she has served as a head high school swimming coach and volunteers with nonprofits.

Joe Stinziani

Joe Stinziani
  • In high school, Stinziani earned 11 varsity letters in football, basketball, baseball, and track; received all-suburban and all-conference honors in football; captained the football and basketball teams; and served as class president.
  • He played on the 1956 baseball team that brought home Sibley High School’s first championship trophy as district champions.
  • Stinziani attended the University of St. Thomas, where he played varsity baseball, before serving in the U.S. Army.
  • A lifelong West St. Paul resident, Stinziani returned home and spent years giving back as a youth baseball coach.

Avery Vogen

Avery Vogen
  • In high school, Vogen was named a three-time swim and dive team MVP and served as captain twice. She set five school records, beating four records that had stood for more than 40 years. She was a three-time state qualifier, multiple-time All-State honoree, and the program’s all-time leading scorer.
  • Vogen continued her academic and athletic career at Denison University, where she earned four First-Team All-American honors, graduated with a degree in biology and a minor in mathematics, and was recognized as a First-Team Scholar All-American.
  • She has also dedicated her time to mental health advocacy and community health coaching.
  • Vogen is currently pursuing a master’s degree in applied biostatistics at Boston University.

More: The Two Rivers Girls Swim and Dive Team shared some thoughts on team history, including Vogen beating several of Kennedy’s records—one of them happening in the old Heritage pool where the record was originally set before the season moved to the aquatic center.
