West St. Paul City Council will discuss the future of inflow/infiltration, discuss a potential sewer rate increase, hear about Robert Street construction, and consider assessments.
What’s Coming on Council:
- Sewer: The Open Council Work Session (OCWS) will include two conversations on sewers: One on increasing rates for sanitary and stormwater sewers that would show up on water bills, and the other on the future of the city’s inflow and infiltration program that requires homeowners to check sewer lines and meet compliance standards.
- Robert Street: The Minnesota Department of Transportation will give an update on Robert Street construction during the OCWS. The work is coming in 2027 and 2028, mostly in St. Paul but coming as far south into West St. Paul as Bernard Street.
- Assessments: Council will hold a public hearing for assessments on Emerson Avenue (mill & overlay: $1,534; reconstruction: $8,329), the Dodd-Mina alley ($4,000), and various assessments for abatements, citations, and miscellaneous charges.
- Zoning setbacks: Council will consider an ordinance to reduce the maximum setback requirements for industrial zones. This comes from a proposed teardown and rebuild by Evolve Workplace that went to Planning Commission last week.
- Civility: Council will consider a resolution committing to leading with civility, dignity, and respect.
