In its final meeting of the year, the ISD 197 School Board heard from students and staff from Garlough and Moreland elementary schools, honored the successes of student athletes, and finalized the tax levy for 2026.
The school board celebrated the birthday of Superintendent Peter Olson-Skog to kick off last night’s school board meeting. The board also heard an update on the district’s American Indian Education plan, introduced a new policy on posting advertisements, and discussed the academic calendar for the coming years.
The ISD 197 School Board recognized clubs and groups that focus on Hispanic and Native American language and culture, as well as including special education students in regular classes and activities.
An audit presentation highlighted issues with timeliness and accuracy and the board reviewed enrollment numbers during last night’s ISD 197 School Board meeting.
The school board approved a new two-year teacher contract, an annual report and strategic plan, and heard site reports from Branch Out and the Early Learning Center.
The school board approved a ceiling for the 2026 property tax levy and reviewed a report on student achievement at last night’s meeting. Discussion focused on interpreting the results of the report and how best to act on the results.
