Meet a Member: Melissa Rousu

We’re saying hello to some of our neighbors, meeting folks who support West St. Paul Reader. Today we’re meeting Melissa Rousu, a project manager for the Minnesota State IT Center of Excellence. She’s lived in West St. Paul for 16 years and became a member of West St. Paul Reader in July 2022.

What do you love about West St. Paul?

I love the small town feel and community involvement that exists.

What’s your favorite place in West St. Paul? Why?

2026 West St. Paul Rider community bike ride on June 7, 2026.

Dodge Nature Center. I love the walkways and it holds great memories of school events my daughter had there.

What’s your go-to West St. Paul eatery?

Pizza Shop. Chopper is amazing and the pizza is the best!

What is West St. Paul’s best kept secret?

Centsibly Chic… amazing store!

What do you wish people knew about West St. Paul?

It’s a great community, amazing schools, and has so much to offer!

Why did you move to West St. Paul?

My husband’s family has lived here since the early 1950s so we knew it was a great community and the perfect place to raise our daughter. She was lucky enough to have some of the same elementary school teachers as her dad!

Why did you decide to become a member and support West St. Paul Reader?

I think it’s important to support local organizations and I love the work it does to keep the community informed.

What do you like most about being a member and supporting West St. Paul Reader?

Feeling like I am helping to support the community.
