Design: Patrick’s family will be “the driving force” behind the look of the memorial, according to West St. Paul city manager Nate Burkett.

  • “I do think it’d be cool to do a cement pattern of his badge,” Patrick’s widow, Michelle Patrick, told the Pioneer Press. “I just know it will be really great when it’s finally done. I know a lot of people will never forget him. But it will also make it so other people know about him and the sacrifice that he suffered.”

Annual memorial: The annual public gathering to remember Patrick will be held on Sunday, July 30 at noon at the Smith and Dodd intersection.

  • A moment of silence will be held at 12:20 p.m. to mark when Patrick was shot.
  • Speakers include Sen. Matt Klein and Mike Brue, Patrick’s brother.
