What’s shaping up to be the warmest winter on record continues to cancel winter fun. Today the Dodge Nature Center announced they were canceling the Winter Fun Fest, planned for February 17.

Why: Warm weather and no snow. “We won’t be able to hold this event safely or authentically for the thousands of visitors that come out every year,” said a Facebook update from the Dodge Nature Center.

What if the weather gets better? “If the forecast drastically changes, we may offer pop-up events this season for snowshoeing, kicksledding, and other winter activities as in years past. Keep an eye on our social media pages and online calendar.”

History: This would have been the ninth annual Winter Fun Fest. It was also canceled in 2021 due to COVID-19. Started back in 2016 by the South Robert Street Business Association (SRSBA), the Winter Fun Fest is a partnership between SRSBA and Dodge Nature Center.

Other events: Moreland also had to reschedule its Art Sled Rally, planned for this Friday and Saturday, due to lack of snow. City rinks are also closed indefinitely.
