  1. Possibly a silly question, but, in the unopposed races, are the other votes undervotes or write-ins or both?

That is to say, Councilmember Gulley got 2398 out of 2461 votes cast, which means she did NOT get 63 votes. Does leaving that line blank count toward that 63 total?

I ask because, if it DOES count, I’m surprised so few people left that line blank. (I thought more people left unopposed races blank.) But if blanks do NOT count and those were all write-ins, then I’m surprised by the strength of the opposition to both Councilmember Gulley and Mayor Napier.

Thank you for your faithful coverage of the election. Your work on the Soil & Water race, in particular, was extremely useful to helping me decide how to vote, and (given light coverage) I suspect the candidate interviews here were a major factor in how the race turned out.

    1. The other 2.56% in Gulley’s race were write in votes, so all 63 were write ins. If you skipped that race you’re not counted in that total. I think you can look at precinct results to determine how many people voted but skipped that race. In all the races there were a small percentage of write in votes that I didn’t include.
