Then & Now: Annapolis Street

Here’s a look at Annapolis Street more than a century apart. With the exception of Forty Acres, Annapolis is the dividing line between West St. Paul and St. Paul.

Annapolis Street: 1915

The view from 1915 shows a sparsely populated, muddy street—and a much-needed sidewalk lifting those pedestrians above the street.

Eagle-eyed reader Steve Wallin identified the two houses in the distance as 865 and 863 Bidwell, which means the photo is looking west and the two women are basically in front of the current Rocco’s Pizza.

Annapolis Street: 2024

The view in 2024 reflects a recently completed reconstruction, which added bike lanes, new sidewalks, and a reconfigured intersection at Annapolis, Dodd, and Charlton.
