Apply Now for More Than a Dozen Openings on City Committees

The City of West St. Paul is looking for engaged citizens to apply to serve on city commissions and committees. These residents help shape the future of the city, including reviewing development proposals, park plans, changes to the city charter, and more.

Current Openings

The four main committees have a total of 15 seats open, though some may be filled by current members whose terms are up but might be reappointed.

  • Charter Commission: 3 open seats
  • Planning Commission: 4 open seats
  • Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee (PRAC): 5 open seats
  • Environmental Committee: 3 open seats

More Details

  • Requirements: The only requirements to serve on a board or commission are being 18 years old, currently living in West St. Paul, and having an interest in participating.
  • Timing: Applications are due February 3. Interviews will take place the second week of February, with new terms beginning on March 1.
  • Previous applicants: If you haven’t applied in the past year, you should reapply to be considered.
  • Process: The City Council makes appointments for the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee and the Environmental Committee. The mayor appoints members to the Charter Commission with City Council confirmation. The Charter Commission appoints its own members.
