Moreland Supporting School Library With Kindness

Thanks to our members for making neighborhood news possible.

Moreland Arts and Health Sciences Magnet School is kicking off their annual Raise Craze fundraiser to support the school library by encouraging kindness.

“Kindness is crucial for kids to experience and essential for a healthy school and community,” said Moreland PTA Vice President Lindsay Bjerke. “Especially today. Especially in this moment in which we live.”

What: Rather than a traditional fundraiser where students sell products, Raise Craze encourages students to do acts of kindness and raise support for their efforts. This year’s acts of kindness will include a food packing event, making cards, decorating grocery bags, painting kindness rocks, visiting older adults, friendship bracelets, collecting cereal boxes and other food donations, and more.

Pace Automotive: Local, family owned auto repair. Personal, honest service.

“Our kindness fundraiser is by far one of my favorite things we do at Moreland,” said Principal Rob Sahli. “We see the kindness and compassion our students show to one another every day. Their hearts are so big, and our kindness fundraiser allows those hearts to shine in our community.”

How to support: You can donate online to the general Moreland fund. Each student will also set up their own support pages to raise donations for their individual efforts.

When: February 21 to March 14.

Impact: Started in 2022, the Moreland Raise Craze fundraiser has raised over $60,000 and funded the school’s giant mural. In addition to supporting the school’s free events and residency programming, this year’s effort will help revitalize the school library. They hope to replace outdated/damaged books, increase the inventory, purchase shelving and furniture, and create new reading spaces.

  • “The library is quite literally at the center of our building,” said Sahli. Our goal is to ensure that we fill this space with loads of books that are of interest to our students with an end goal of having them fall in love with reading.”

Goal: This year’s goal is $20,000 and 2,600 acts of kindness.

Consistent Kindness: “It’s great to share with our students that acts of kindness do not need to be big actions, but rather small actions done on a regular basis,” said Sahli. “This fundraiser breathes life into our school, our district, and our community.”

We keep the community informed thanks to the generous support of our members.
