Wentworth Library closed for renovation

Wentworth Library Programming Continues Despite Closure

Thanks to Clover Montessori School for their support.

While Wentworth Library is closed for renovations, library programming will continue at various sites. In addition to a temporary space at the Dakota County Northern Service Center, several events will continue including Family Storytime, book clubs, the summer reading program, and more.

More info: Dakota County Libraries has a website that will be updated with library events and programming throughout the closure.

Relocated Library Programming

Here’s a rundown of relocated programming in the coming months:

  • Family Storytime: The weekly children’s storytime will move to Thompson County Park every Wednesday from 10-10:30 a.m. It will either be hosted in the Great Room of Dakota Lodge or at the north picnic shelter (library signage will point the way).
        1. Book Clubs: Several Wentworth Library book clubs will continue at new locations:
          • Killer Thrillers: Meeting the second Monday of the month, from 6-7p.m., this group will be meeting at Inver Glen Library’s small conference room.
          • Mendota Heights Book Group: Meeting the third Wednesday of the month, from 10-11:30 a.m., this group will continue to meet online.
          • Bookends: Meeting the fourth Tuesday of the month, from 10:30-11:30 a.m., this group will be meeting at Amore Coffee.
          • Nonfiction Book Group: The Friends of Wentworth Library is hosting a book group that will meet monthly at Thompson Park Activity Center. The next meeting is May 1, and they’re reading Hidden Valley Road by Robert Kolker.
        2. Adult Programs: Several adult events (ages 18 and up) this summer are moving to Thompson Park Activity Center. The events are free but registration is required (opens four weeks before the event):
        3. Youth Programs: The library is partnering with both Dakota County Parks and City of West St. Paul Parks & Recreation to offer summer programming at off-site locations. Here’s a sampling of some of the events planned:
        4. Homeless Services: Wentworth Library has served as a hub for homeless services from various partners and those offerings will continue in West St. Paul and nearby locations.
          • Ally Supportive Services will continue to meet and provide services where people are in the community. They have scheduled hours at Burnhaven Library in Burnsville on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon.
          • Guild has scheduled hours at Kaposia Library in South Saint Paul on Tuesdays from 1-3 p.m.
          • Both Ally and Guild will meet people at various library locations as needs arise.

Wentworth Library programming will continue throughout the closure as well. Visit the library website as fall plans are added.

We keep the community informed thanks to the generous support of our members.
