Mr. Mustacheo Brings Mexi-Wings, Tacos, and Fusion Flavors to West St. Paul

Thanks to The North 40 Tavern for their support. A north woods tavern somewhere in the middle of a big city. They regularly rotate tap beers, so stop in to see what’s currently flowing.

Mr. Mustacheo, an authentic Mexican restaurant serving Mexi-wing and tacos, along with some mash-up dishes like a sushi burrito, is coming to the former Hamburguesas El Gordo location.

When: The restaurant does not have an exact opening date, but is expected to open around late July. The grand opening is Wednesday, July 30 from 5 to 10 p.m.

Food: Mexican wings and tacos with recipes from Central Mexico:

  • “Mexi-wings” are wings tossed in different sauces with Mexican flavors like habanero or tamarind and sweet sauces.
  • Along with more creative dishes such as a sushi burrito, a mustache-shaped quesadilla, and a burger quesadilla

Name meaning: It’s a popular sentiment in Mexican culture that if someone enjoys their food, it makes their “mustache move.” Additionally, since mustaches can have very different appearances, owner Luis Gomez wanted Mr. Mustacheo to represent the various flavors and experiences they incorporate into their cooking.

Owners: Co-owners Luis Gomez and Rene Roque come from Central Mexico, hoping to bring authentic and creative recipes to West St. Paul.

“Mr. Mustacheo is here to be a part of the [West St. Paul] story, celebrating culture through food, creating local jobs, and offering a family-friendly space,” said Gomez. “I want everyone to take part in this and try out Mr. Mustacheo.”
