Wentworth Library Renovation in Progress

Thanks to FoodSmith and Lindsay Bjerke with Norton Realty for their support.

Wentworth Library is on track for a spring reopening and we get a peek at their progress, plus additional projects will bring art and an outdoor patio to the library.

What: Wentworth Library closed in April for a $7.4 million renovation project. They have a temporary location at the Northern Dakota County Service Center and have hosted events around the community.

Renovation Progress

“The Wentworth Library renovation project is going strong, and we are looking forward to sharing the refreshed space in spring of 2026,” said Branch Manager Stacy Lenarz. “The walls are going up and we are working on special details that will make our renovated space inviting, supportive, and reflective of our community.”

Here’s a look at the current progress:

Additional Projects

Entryway art: Dakota County is seeking proposals for a work of art in the entryway to welcome people to Wentworth Library.

  • The project has a budget of $10,000 and is funded by the state’s Legacy Amendment.
  • A library team including a member of the Dakota County Public Arts Committee will select the proposal this fall with the work to be installed in the spring.

Outdoor space: The library received a $50,000 grant from Toro to create a patio and naturescape beside the library.

  • “We are looking forward to having an inviting space where the library can host outdoor programs and where people can connect with the beautiful space around the library,” Lenarz said.
  • Design and development is still in progress, so there’s no set timeline yet.
