The former commercial storefront and residential building at 1254 Robert Street were torn down today. There are currently no plans for the space.

  • Where: Just south of Moreland Robert, next to Jiffy Lube.
  • What happened: A fire in May 2023 damaged the building, forcing the tenant, Minnesota Locks, to relocate.
  • Abandoned plans: Owner Bill Goldberg, who also owns Bicycle Bills next door, had plans to rebuild the non-conforming site to the pre-existing state. Approved in 2023, those plans lapsed.
  • Condemned: With the damaged building sitting vacant, West St. Paul City Council approved an abatement order to tear down the property in April of this year.
