After a procedural mistake at the last meeting, Council will re-review a rental license for 1064 Robert Street, plus an outdoor patio for Grande Sunrise, city data, and more.
1064 Robert Street Rental License Review
For a third straight meeting, Council will consider the rental license for a single family home at 1064 Robert Street. Originally discussed on April 27, Council continued the discussion to May 11 to get more information and notify the tenant of a possible eviction.
- Procedural mistake: With one Council member absent and one recusing themselves, the vote became complicated and two votes failed 3-1. However, City Attorney Pam Whitmore missed a relatively recent change that gives the mayor the power to vote when a motion fails with three affirmative votes. So Council will re-review the issue.
- Potential result: The rental license is likely to be approved with support from either an additional Council member voting or the mayor voting.
- What’s the problem: The rental property in question has a history of code violations.
Grande Sunrise: Liquor & Patio
The Mexican restaurant Grande Sunrise that opened in October wants to add an outdoor patio. They need a conditional user permit (CUP) for on-sale liquor and outdoor seating.
- The patio will include seven tables and seating for 22.
- Planning Commission unanimously approved the CUPs and no one spoke during the public hearing.
