It’s Democracy Night in Inver Grove Heights as a local group organizes a candidate forum on July 31 for the City Council primary election.
With seven candidates running for two open seats on the Inver Grove Heights City Council, the August 11 primary election will whittle the field to four candidates. Democracy Night is a candidate forum and informational event to inform voters.
- When: Friday, July 31 with an open house format from 6-6:45 p.m., candidate forum from 7-8 p.m., and open house until 8:30 p.m.
- Where: Amazing Grace Lutheran Church at 7160 South Robert Trail in Inver Grove Heights.
- What: A candidate forum and open house dubbed Democracy Night. While all candidates have been invited, confirmed candidates so far include Matt Mills, Tony Scales, Kevin Sethre, and Mary T’Kach. The moderated forum will include prepared questions, audience questions, and a “lightning round” of questions.
- Open house: The unique event will include an open house before and after the forum where residents can meet with candidates and visit booths with election and community resources including The League of Women Voters and Parent Care Collective. Light refreshments will be available.
- Who: The event is organized by IGH Cares, a non-partisan group of volunteers trying to build civic engagement in Inver Grove Heights.
