The Optimist Club of West St. Paul hosted its 26th annual ISD 197 spelling bee. The winning words were “masa” for elementary school bracket and “augment” for middle school.
The West St. Paul City Council will consider fine appeals and have a presentation from the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Committee during the regular meeting, but most of the discussion, including a trail on Butler and budget reductions will happen during the Open Council Work Session.

In a national context of schools removing books and teachers being restricted—especially on topics of race and LGBTQ+ issues—ISD 197 will begin using a supplemental anti-bias curriculum to help kids from a range of identities feel welcomed and included.
Following new CDC guidance, the ISD 197 school board will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, March 1 to consider dropping the mask requirement.
