New Principal at Somerset

ISD 197 announced that Amy Stenson Kujawski will be the new principal at Somerset Elementary School beginning July 1.

“In my 28 years in education, I have learned that leadership is about serving others with empathy, committing to a vision that all can learn and contribute at high levels, and delighting in the everyday work of educators and schools,” Stenson Kujawski said.

Background: Stenson Kujawski has been the principal of St. Anthony Middle School for the past eight years. She also served as an equity and instruction coach, dean of students, and an interim elementary school principal during her time in the St. Anthony-New Brighton School District. Earlier in her career, Stenson Kujawski taught reading and language arts in Bloomington Public Schools and high school English in Hastings Public Schools.

Process: The interview team included Somerset staff, district staff, and families. Stenson Kujawski was selected for her “collaborative and compassionate leadership style, grounded in a deep belief that every student deserves to be seen, supported, and valued,” according to an announcement from the district.

Previous principal: Former Somerset Principal Libby Huettl moved to Garlough in an interim capacity last summer and took the position full time in December. Former Moreland Principal Mark Quinn has served as interim principal at Somerset since Huettl left.
