What’s Happening There?: Three Projects Coming to West St. Paul

The West St. Paul Planning Commission has three public hearings for upcoming projects in the city, including a dental clinic, adult day care, and solar carport.

When: The Planning Commission meeting is on Tuesday, September 19 at 6:30 p.m. at city hall.

Pace Automotive: Local, family owned auto repair. Personal, honest service.

Projects

The three projects include:

Miracle Adult Day Care Center of Minnesota

  • What: A state licensed adult day care facility.
  • Where: 330 Marie Ave. E., on the corner of Oakdale and Marie.
  • Who: Will serve up to 20 adults and employ 10 people.
  • History: The space is currently unused.

Clear Lake Dental

  • What: A dental office/clinic.
  • Where: 1399 S. Robert St.
  • Who: 12 employees, various customers.
  • History: Currently empty, the space used to house Northland Cabinet Source and Pawn American before that.
  • Notes: Potential to share parking with Beirut since the two businesses have opposite peak hours.

Dakota County Solar Carport

  • What: A 228.6 kW solar carport to generate 15% of the energy used by the Northern Service Center.
  • Where: It will span the full width of one row of parking in the northwest corner of the Northern Service Center’s parking lot.
  • History: Council tweaked ordinances to better address this type of use.
  • Notes: A state grant is paying for the project.

On June 5, 1961, West St. Paul teen Nancee Parkinson was crowned Miss Minnesota. The 18-year-old was named fourth runner-up in the Miss America pageant and went on to be a teacher, spokesperson, and had a short career in Hollywood.

Sixth Annual Community Bike Ride

More than 120 people joined the sixth annual West St. Paul Rider community bike ride this weekend. The festivities included artwork, donuts, and free stickers and magnets for participants.
