Wentworth Library to Close for Renovations

Thanks to Bisanz Brothers and Zak’s Auto Service for their support.

Enjoy Wentworth Library while you can, as it will close for renovations starting April 7. A temporary location at the Dakota County Northern Service Center will open April 14.

  • Timeline: Construction is expected to take a year with the library reopening in the spring of 2026.
  • Renovation project: The new space will include more meeting and study areas, updated space for teens and children, improved accessibility, a quite zone and more. The project will also upgrade systems and offer new furniture, fixtures, and more.
  • What’s not being done: The renovations are more of a refresh and while they will include significant changes, there won’t be any expansion or exterior work. The cost of upgrading heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems precludes any big changes like a drive-up book drop off or moving the entrance closer to the parking lot.

Temporary Location

A temporary library location will open on the second floor of the Dakota County Northern Service Center on April 14, 2025.

  • Services: The temporary location will allow for picking up holds, browsing new materials, using computers and printing, and getting help from staff.
  • Returns: An outdoor bin will be available to return materials.
  • Hours: The temporary location will be open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and closed on weekends.
  • Nearby locations: Other nearby library locations with full service and normal hours include Kaposia Library in South St. Paul, Inver Glen Library in Inver Grove Heights, and Wescot Library in Eagan.

Other Details

Cost: The project will cost $7.4 million.
