Open House for 150 Thompson at Wentworth Library in West St. Paul.

West St. Paul Parks Open House: 150 Thompson, Kennedy, Albert, & More

Thanks to The North 40 Tavern for their support. A north woods tavern somewhere in the middle of a big city. They regularly rotate tap beers, so stop in to see what’s currently flowing.

The City of West St. Paul has a number of park updates in process, so they’re hosting an open house to update the community on everything that’s happening. Those updates include the former YMCA/Hy-Vee space, Kennedy Park renovation, Albert Park expansion, and more.

  • When: Tuesday, May 13 from 5-7 p.m.
  • What: A drop-in style open house with multiple stations where residents can learn more about each project and give input. Snacks and drinks will be provided. This open house will take the place of the usual monthly Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee meeting.
  • Where: City hall at 1616 Humboldt Ave.

Projects Covered

The open house will cover the following park projects:

  • Kennedy Park: Community engagement has already happened and renovation work begins this summer.
  • Smith/Dodd: The intersection realignment has several park components that will happen in 2026, including an expansion of Albert Park and a memorial for Officer Scott Patrick.
  • 150 Thompson: The redevelopment of the former YMCA/Hy-Vee includes community space. There’s already been community input and there will continue to be engagement as these plans are finalized. You can also give input through an online survey.
  • System Plan: The city has been working on finalizing a new long-term system plan for several years and continues to welcome input. You can also give input through an online survey.
  • Placemaking/Branding: A City Council meeting in March included a presentation on placemaking and branding that has implications for city parks.

There might be updates on other projects, including the city pool and a potential community center, though it will only be the latest details presented to City Council and nothing new.

Pace Automotive: Local, family owned auto repair. Personal, honest service.

We keep the community informed thanks to the generous support of our members.
