A charity slugfest between West St. Paul and South St. Paul is happening again on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Volunteers are gathering to pack meals for local food shelves and see which city can pack the most.

“Seeing West St. Paul and South St. Paul come together for a vital cause like feeding families in need shows exactly what makes our communities special,” said Dakota County Commissioner Joe Atkins, who will serve as referee. “In times of need, the friendly rivalry fades, the borders vanish, and everyone rolls up their sleeves for something that truly matters.”

What: Each city is fielding teams of volunteers to pack oatmeal for Harvest Pack. The city that packs the most will earn bragging rights and a championship belt, but the real winner is hungry families. The meals will be distributed to local food shelves including 360 CommunitiesNeighborhood HouseNeighbors, Inc., and The Open Door Pantry.
