Town Square Talk recently featured local artist Travis Olson sharing about his creative process and adding some whimsy to life in West St. Paul.
“The lasting impact I would have is just to hopefully inspire someone else to start making things. Add more whimsy into the world, to make their own weirdness, and hopefully inspire someone else to do that. Because if we were all making weird little creatures or leaving poems for someone to discover or make everyone’s day a little more interesting, it’d be a pretty fantastic little place to live.”

If you’ve discovered little wooden creatures around West St. Paul, that’s Olson. He made 80 of the creatures, called Dubs, and hid them throughout West St. Paul.
Olson talked about his professional graphic design work as well as community projects that give him joy, including building a Little Free Library, making parade entries, and fairy doors.

How can you support Olson’s work: “Supporting my work just means doing your own thing in most cases,” said Olson. “I think finding the things that make you joyful and doing those, that’s how you can help support my work.”
