On Monday, West St. Paul City Council will discuss the appointment process to fill a vacancy and next year’s budget. They’ll also finalize the Charlton Place House Improvement Area and consider a tear down and rebuild for Evolve Workplace.
- Vacancy: With Council Member Robyn Gulley’s election to the state senate, Council will have a vacancy. They’ll discuss the appointment process during the Open Council Work Session (OCWS) and how people can apply.
- Budget: Also during OCWS, Council will discuss the budget, long-term capital projects, and department goals for 2027. The property tax levy is supposed to come in around 6.6% (down from 7.28% approved in September and showing up on residents’ statements).
- HIA: Council will move forward with a Housing Improvement Area (HIA) agreement for the Charlton Place condos. This has been a multi-step process to approve a city-backed loan for common improvements. The project had 91% approval from homeowners (65% was required) and only three vetos came in.
- Evolve: Council will consider the final reading on a zoning change for industrial zones, which will allow them to consider the tear down and rebuild for Evolve Workplace.
- Police: The mayor will swear in police officer Hannah Buller.
- Election: Council will certify the results of the election.
