West St. Paul City Council will consider three projects—a new liquor store, a church sign, and a rebuild after a fire—as well as discuss staff wages falling behind comparable cities.
Conditional Use Permits
A series of projects will come before Council seeking conditional use permits. These projects include a new liquor store, a rebuild after fire damage, and an electronic sign for a church. We covered these projects earlier when they cam before Planning Commission. All were approved unanimously by the Planning Commission.
Other Items on the Agenda
- Junior council: McKinley Cherrier will be ceremonially sworn in as the city’s first junior council member.
- Organizations: Should the city join the National League of Cities? Council will discuss during the Open Council Work Session (OCWS). West St. Paul has been a member in the past, but not since around 2005. The membership costs $2,126.
- Wages: The city is about 6-10% behind comparable cities on what it pays employees. During the OCWS, City Manager Nate Burkett will further discuss this issue and his plan to address it.
- Appointments: With the annual process of committee appointments coming up, Council will again discuss tweaks to the process.

Watch: The public can watch the meeting live on Town Square TV or cable TV starting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday (6 p.m. for the OCWS).
