The Optimist Club of West St. Paul named Ted Kronschnabel their Optimist of the Year for 2024. Nominated by Friendly Hills Principal Chris Hiti, the Optimist Club “prize patrol” surprised Kronschnabel at Friendly Hills last week.

Why: The nomination noted Kronschnabel’s commitment to the West St. Paul and Mendota Heights community through youth hockey and the Friendly Hills PTA.

  • “His love for students and families has spread throughout the Friendly Hills community and there is not a thing Ted wouldnʼt do to support anyone that asks.”
  • “His ability to step in and help with anything goes beyond what words can express, but in the end, everything is better because he was involved.”
  • “If you know Ted, you are really glad you do; if you donʼt, you miss out on an extraordinary human being that cares about young people and his community.”

Bonus: The Optimist Club presented Kronschnabel with a plaque, a Perkins pie, balloons, and tickets to a St. Paul Saints game. Kronschnabel is also invited to ride in the Explore West St. Paul Days parade on Saturday, June 8.
