Who Helps Youth Succeed? Nominate an Optimist

The Optimist Club of West St. Paul is looking for the 2026 Optimist of the Year. They’re now accepting nominations.

“Please take this opportunity to recognize the good works and optimistic example shown by a friend, co-worker, colleague, teacher, coach, leader, or student,” read the announcement from the Optimist Club.

  • Who: Nominate someone who helps local youth succeed. Nominees must live, work, volunteer, or attend school in the West St. Paul area, which includes all of ISD 197.
  • How: To nominate someone, send your contact info and the nominee’s name, their accomplishments or other examples of how this person has made a difference in the lives of youth. They specifically ask for ways this person has contributed to making youth a top priority. Nominations can be sent via email to ivorykey2b@gmail.com or by mail to:

  • Winners: The winner will be announced at the end of May with a surprise presentation at their school, workplace, or other appropriate location. Winners will receive a plaque and an invitation to ride in the Explore West St. Paul Days parade.
  • Last year’s winner: Two Rivers students Annika Klemme and Ramona Webb.
  • Deadline: May 6
