We consider this chart to be a starting point for your research. Only so much can fit in a chart. Some notes about how we created it:

  • We tried to include useful information that helped differentiate the candidates. This required leaving off some information, that while helpful, didn’t show any differences. This included questions about supporting LGBTQ+ rights (all said yes) and how many candidate forums they attended (all five have attended all of them so far).
  • We also experimented with new questions, such as how many school board meetings the candidates had attended in person. Unfortunately, that question needs more nuance (such as adding a time frame like before you filed to run) and has a difficult issue of fact checking (incumbent Byron Schwab responded that he had attended “all” meetings—but we’re aware of one absence in the past three months, never mind the previous 11 years).
  • For more detailed and nuanced responses, see our full election coverage.
  • Finally, we always encourage voters to contact candidates directly if they have additional questions about a candidate’s position.

This kind of local election coverage only happens thanks to our generous supporters. Consider joining them with monthly or annual support and help keep your community informed.
